Sizzlin’ Summer Record + CD Sale

1 06 2011

Summer’s here big time in NYC = hot + humid + B-B-Q ready.  That’s why its a Sizzlin’ Summer Record + CD Sale here @ ARC, June 18 – 26.  Everyday, 11-6.

Remember most CDs at our sale are cheaper than downloading one song!  This year specials include more Jazz + Blues LPs than usual  •  CDs donated by Nonesuch Records  •  Celtic Corner – stacks of Irish traditional and modern CDs  •  Classical 45s from the 50s from Decca  •  MINT condition comedy LPs   •  7” singles never offered before, sorted by artists who’s names begin with the letters «J» + «L»

The BEST way to do our sale and shop before the general public is to JOIN the ARC and attend our Hawaiian COCKTAIL PARTY  –  Thursday evening, June 16, from 6 to 9pm.   Someone donated a pile of Hawaiian shirts, so this year’s theme is Surfin’  – Tiki – Tropical – Hawaiian-ish.  Dress luau or wear your Hawaiian shirt for a free gift.  Everyone gets a lei!   And because we love you, everyone gets a Frank Zappa poster donated by renowned rock photographer Lynn Goldsmith.  At the party Bonnie’s Grill in Brooklyn will serve some of their famous “Waikiki” hotwings, and Tribeca’s Bubble Lounge will donate Champagne + rum.  Kenny the singing bus driver is Don Ho for a day.

Call to JOIN or info: 212-226-6967.      arcmusic@inch.com

Today is June 1, a Wednesday.

Now every Wednesday is Hawaiian Shirt Day here @ ARC.  And today, Japan announced that they would join in.  You see the energy shortage (because the nuclear plant is down and making things hot) means everyone has to cut down on air conditioning.  They’ve gone Jimmy Carter, asking offices to leave the thermostat at 82!  They’ve gone ARC telling salarymen to eschew the suit and wear an Aloha shirt to work.  We just knew they’d come around to our way of thinking…

PS – If you have recordings, books, memorabilia or any music related materials PLEASE consider donating to the ARC.   We’re at 54 White St in NYC.
