Hep Cats, N’est-ce pas?

8 08 2007

Last weekend the hillbilly combo I am a member of, Susquehanna Industrial Tool & Die Co., played the Red Hot and Blue Rockabilly Weekend fest in beautiful St. Hyacinthe, Quebec.  Kind of a hike for us, but we had a wonderful time.  We shared the bill with Sun recording legends Sonny Burgess and the Pacers.  To say they blew us away is an understatement.  The high point of our trip was hanging out with these gentlemen at the sound check, shooting the bull about gear and related musician stuff just exactly as if we belonged there.  You won’t find a warmer, more gracious bunch of fellows anywhere.  And the capper was our set went down well enough that they didn’t find it necessary to shun us after we played – not bad!

Here’s a shot of our group and some of Sonny Burgess with the Pacers.
